Rainfall Brings Relief to Kharif Crops in Gujarat and Maharashtra

Mumbai: Recent good rainfall in parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat—two key agricultural states in Western India—has breathed new life into withering Kharif crops. However, there remain several areas where heavy rainfall is still urgently needed.

On September 13, widespread good rainfall was recorded in Gujarat's Navsari and surrounding districts, while some areas experienced thundershowers. Similarly, torrential rain in Mumbai and adjacent regions of Maharashtra is expected to provide significant relief to Kharif crops, bringing smiles to the faces of farmers.

It is noteworthy that Gujarat is the leading producer of groundnut, cotton, and castor, while Maharashtra ranks among the top producers of tur (pigeon pea), cotton, sugarcane, and maize. Additionally, various other crops are cultivated on a large scale in both states during the Kharif season.
