Production of Kabuli gram is expected to increase by 17 percent to 6.90 lakh tonnes

Mumbai. Due to good increase in sowing area and improvement in average yield rate, domestic production of Kabuli gram is expected to increase significantly this time.

According to a survey report of Kabuli Chana Traders Association, the sowing area of ​​​​Kabuli gram at the national level increased by 12 percent from 3,64,371 hectares to 4,07,783 hectares during the 2024-25 season as compared to the 2023-24 season.

Under this, its area increased by 15% from 2,12,737 hectares to 2,44,315 hectares in Madhya Pradesh, improved by 7% from 1,20,152 hectares to 1,28,621 hectares in Maharashtra, increased by 12% from 19,800 hectares to 22,139 hectares in Gujarat and improved by 9% from 11,682 hectares to 12,709 hectares in Andhra Pradesh.

Similarly, in the survey report, the total domestic production of Kabuli gram during the season under review has been estimated to increase by 17% from 5,88,629 tonnes to 6,90,018 tonnes.

Under this, production in the most prominent producing state- Madhya Pradesh is expected to jump by 21 percent from 3,46,801 tonnes to 4,18,676 tonnes,

Maharashtra by 11 percent from 1,85,916 tonnes to 2,05,472 tonnes, Gujarat by 16 percent from 35,370 tonnes to 41,156 tonnes and Andhra Pradesh by 20 percent from 20,541 tonnes to 24,714 tonnes.

The average yield rate of Kabuli gram is expected to improve by 5 percent from 1615 kg per hectare in the 2023-24 season to 1692 kg per hectare in the 2024-25 season.

According to the survey report, the average productivity rate of Kabuli gram is expected to improve from 1630 kg per hectare to 1714 kg per hectare in Madhya Pradesh,

from 1547 kg to 1598 kg per hectare in Maharashtra, from 1786 kg to 1859 kg per hectare in Gujarat and from 1758 kg to 1945 kg per hectare in Andhra Pradesh.

Better production will not only help in easily meeting the domestic demand and requirement but will also make it possible to increase exports.
