Lucknow: The Central Government has extended the deadline for procuring Rabi crops—such as wheat, gram (chana), and lentil (masoor)—at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in Uttar Pradesh until July 8, 2026. Simultaneously, approval has been granted for the construction of over 6.18 lakh houses under the next phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

According to an official statement, this decision was taken during a meeting held at the Yojana Bhawan in Lucknow between the Union Agriculture Minister and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

At this review meeting, the Union Agriculture Minister handed over the approval letter regarding the extension of the procurement period for wheat and pulses for the current Rabi marketing season to the State Chief Minister.

This move will bring relief to farmers in Uttar Pradesh who have not yet been able to sell their wheat, gram, and lentil crops at the MSP but wish to do so.

The deadline for procuring these Rabi crops has been extended from June 24 to July 8. Farmers who were unable to sell their produce due to factors such as space constraints in *mandis* (markets), delays in weighing, or adverse weather conditions will benefit from this extension of the procurement period; the window for selling at MSP remains open.

According to the Union Agriculture Minister, Uttar Pradesh contributes approximately 38 percent to the total domestic wheat production and plays a vital role in ensuring national food security and better incomes for farmers. Uttar Pradesh is the second-largest producer of lentils and also records significant production of gram.
