News Capsule: Sharp Increase in Sugar Production
★ Yesterday, the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) released sugar production figures up to 30 November 2025, and the numbers are quite surprising.
★ During the same period last season, sugar production stood at 2.76 million tonnes, whereas it has now reached 4.135 million tonnes — indicating a much faster pace of production this year.
★ This year, sugar recovery from cane is 8.52%, compared to 8.29% last year.
★ For the current year, NFCSF has projected sugar production at 31.5 million tonnes, compared to 26.18 million tonnes in 2024–25.
★ With rising production, sugar availability may increase in the future. If the international market does not improve, even achieving the 1.5 million tonne export target could be difficult — similar to what happened last season. Overall, avoid stocking sugar for now.
