News Capsule: India: Increase in Sesame Imports and Exports
★ New data on India’s sesame trade shows an increase in overall activity during 2025.
★ In December 2025, India imported about 25,119 tons of sesame, compared to 24,333 tons in December 2024. On a full-year basis, imports during January–December 2025 rose to 164,872 tons, up from 140,269 tons in 2024.
★ On the export front, India exported 17,812 tons of sesame in December 2025, slightly lower than 19,065 tons in December 2024. However, annual figures show growth. Sesame exports during January–December 2025 increased to 273,369 tons, compared with 239,560 tons in 2024.
★ Overall, both sesame imports and exports from India have increased on a yearly basis, indicating strong demand in the global market.
