News Capsule: Bulk Pea and Lentil Loadings from Canada Increased in January
★ According to the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC), 121,600 metric tons of field peas were loaded for export in January. With this, total bulk loadings in the current marketing year have reached 1,218,600 tons, which is about 9% lower than the 1,342,600 tons loaded during the same period last year.
★ CGC data does not include exports from containers and non-reporting locations. The CGC records shipments when the grain is loaded onto ships, while Statistics Canada calculates export figures based on the bill of lading date.

Increase in Lentil Loadings
★ In January, 118,000 tons of lentils were loaded for export. With this, total loadings in the current marketing year have reached 749,100 tons, which is higher than the 720,400 tons recorded during the same period last year.
★ In January last year, 77,400 tons of lentils were shipped, while the figure stood at 96,300 tons in the previous month (December).
