Mixed trend in export of agricultural products from Canada in the first eight months of the season

Vancouver. During the first eight months of the current marketing season from Canada, i.e. from August 2023 to March 2024, there was an increase in the export of some agricultural products and a decline in the shipment of some other products as compared to the same period of the marketing season of 2022-23.
According to official data, during the period under review, the export of whole and split (dal) peas from Canada increased from 19.30 lakh tonnes to 21.52 lakh tonnes and the export of Kabuli gram improved from 1.49 lakh tonnes to 1.55 lakh tonnes, but the shipment of lentils declined from 15.66 lakh tonnes to 11.93 lakh tonnes. Apart from this, mainly yellow peas and lentils are imported from Canada.
In the category of oilseed crops, mainly canola and soybean are exported from Canada. During the period under review, export of canola declined from 58.04 lakh tonnes to 39.68 lakh tonnes, while soybean shipment increased from 38.08 lakh tonnes to 41.59 lakh tonnes. Apart from this, small quantities of mustard, sunflower, linseed and safflower were also exported from there.
