Maximum purchase of mustard in Bhiwani district of Haryana and wheat in Sirsa

Chandigarh. During the current marketing season, good purchases of wheat and mustard have been made by government agencies and private firms in Haryana, a leading state contributing food grains and oilseeds to the central pool.
According to the available data, two government agencies—NAFED and Haryana Warehousing Corporation—have purchased a total of 7,78,738 tonnes of mustard from farmers in the state at the minimum support price this year, which accounts for 98.59 percent of the total arrival of 8,16,158 tonnes in the mandis.
The remaining mustard was purchased by traders and millers. The minimum support price of mustard has been fixed at Rs 5950 per quintal this year.
Official data also shows that the maximum purchase of mustard in Haryana took place in Bhiwani district, where 2,36,909 tonnes were procured. Out of this, 2,26,915 tonnes, or 95.78 percent, were lifted.
As far as wheat is concerned, Sirsa district recorded the highest procurement during the current Rabi marketing season in Haryana, with 8,51,133 tonnes purchased. Of this, 8,39,939 tonnes, or 98.68 percent, were lifted.
According to the data received, 75,20,313 tonnes of wheat arrived in the mandis of Haryana this time, out of which 74,35,720 tonnes—or nearly 99 percent—were lifted. It is understood that this year,
along with contribution to the central pool, wheat was also procured significantly for supply in the public distribution system (PDS). The minimum support price of wheat was fixed at Rs 2425 per quintal this year.
