Lentil Prices in Canada Remain Stable Amid Steady Trading

Saskatoon. The lentil market in Canada is seeking a price level that can, on one hand, encourage farmers to sell their produce, and on the other, attract buyers from the international market.

Canadian lentil exporters will primarily face competition from Australia, where a bumper harvest of this pulse crop is expected this season.

In Canada, the 'Free on Board' (FOB) price for No. 2 grade large green lentils is hovering around 30 cents per pound—up from the 24–25 cents per pound seen as recently as June–July. Similarly, the price for No. 1 grade small green lentils remains firm at 27–28 cents per pound, while the price for No.

2 grade red lentils holds steady at 25 cents per pound. While buyer interest appears somewhat subdued at current price levels, it is expected to pick up in the coming period. Although Canada has seen a decline in lentil production this season, existing stock levels remain quite high.
