Lentil Prices Far Below MSP, But Slight Improvement Seen This Week
★ In Delhi, large lentils increased by ₹125 compared to last Saturday, reaching ₹6,375 per quintal on Thursday. In Bareilly, large lentils rose by ₹75 to ₹6,375 per quintal. Imported lentils also moved up slightly, with Canada container lentils rising by ₹75 to ₹5,875 per quintal, and Australia lentils increasing by ₹100 to ₹5,850 per quintal.
★ However, these prices are still at the lowest levels seen between December 2025 and February 2026. Despite this, a mild recovery has been observed this week, mainly due to higher import costs and rising crude oil prices.
★ India is expected to produce a record lentil crop this year.
★ Global markets also have ample lentil stocks, which may continue to keep prices below the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in the coming period.
