Kharif 2025: Sugarcane Sowing Remains Almost Stable

Previous Year (2024): 54.88 lakh hectares

Increase: 0.19 lakh hectares

 Sugarcane takes nearly a year to mature. The ongoing sowing currently pertains to the 2026 crushing season, while the 2025 season planting is almost complete, with fresh crushing expected to begin after October.

Last year, sugar production declined due to several factors. However, this year, much will depend on how the monsoon progresses. If rainfall is favourable, an improvement in production is likely.
