USDA reported a private export sale of 132,000 MT of soybeans to China.
According to the Export Sales report, total soybean sales for the week ending January 1 were 877,914 MT, near the lower end of the 0.75–1.3 MMT expectations for 2025/26. This marked a 7-week low, though still well above the same week last year. China purchased 470,100 MT, while 173,200 MT was sold to Egypt.
Soybean meal bookings totaled 158,143 MT, within the expected range of 100,000–350,000 MT. Soybean oil sales were reported at 24,874 MT, near the upper end of the 0–30,000 MT expectations.
According to Census data, October soybean exports were recorded at 5.264 MMT (197.1 mbu), down 43.05% from last year and the lowest since 2008/09. However, soybean meal exports in October rose 5.7% from the previous month to a record 1.393 MMT.
The WASDE report will be released on Monday. A Bloomberg survey of analysts expects 2025/26 soybean ending stocks to be reported at 295 million bushels, representing a month-over-month increase of 5 million bushels.
