International Soybean Market
The Friday Commitment of Traders data showed managed money slashed 35,717 contracts from their modest net long position in soybean futures and options. By June 24, the net long stood at just 23,448 contracts. Speculative traders held a record net long position of 110,080 contracts in soybean meal.
Next week’s weather forecast is slightly variable, with 1–2 inches of rain expected in central Corn Belt areas like Iowa, Minnesota, and Missouri, while southern parts of the Eastern Corn Belt could see around 1 inch.
USDA reported a private export sale of 119,746 metric tons of soybeans to Mexico for the 2025/26 marketing year.
Ahead of Monday’s Grain Stocks report, a Bloomberg trader survey estimates soybean stocks at 974 million bushels as of June 1, with estimates ranging from 936 million to 1.022 billion bushels. The same survey suggests planted soybean acreage could be 83.5 million acres.
As of June 19, total soybean export commitments stood at 49.474 million metric tons, or 98% of USDA’s projection, slightly below the 5-year average of 102%.
StatsCanada estimates Canadian canola acreage at 21.457 million acres, down 2.5% from last year. Soybean acreage is expected to rise 0.5% to 5.737 million acres.
