International Cotton Market
ICE cotton futures recorded gains of 89 to 142 points in most nearby contracts on Tuesday. The futures market ignored negative external factors, as crude oil futures fell by 34 cents per barrel, while the U.S. dollar index increased by $0.032 during the day.
According to the monthly NASS Cotton Systems report, 257 running bales (RB) of extra-long staple cotton were consumed in February, slightly lower than in January and significantly lower than last year. Available stocks were recorded at 386 RB.
The Seam reported 1,533 bales sold online on March 31, with an average price of 63.47 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index fell by 25 points on Friday, reaching 78.90 cents per pound.
ICE cotton stocks remained unchanged at 14,488 bales as of March 28.
USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) dropped by 97 points to 53.66 cents per pound in Thursday afternoon’s report.
