11.50 lakh tonnes of mustard is expected to be crushed in March

Jaipur. With the arrival of new mustard in the markets of major producing states, the speed of its purchase and crushing-processing has increased a lot.
The process of heavy supply of mustard will continue in April-May 2025 as well, due to which the pace of crushing will remain fast. According to Anil Chatar, Managing Director of Marudhara Trading Agency, an establishment located in the grain market of Chandpole,
Jaipur, during March 2025, a total of 15 lakh tonnes of mustard arrived in the markets of major producing states with 14.50 lakh tonnes and 50 thousand tonnes at government procurement centers. Out of this, 11.50 lakh tonnes were crushed.
It is worth mentioning that the industry-trade organizations have estimated the total production of mustard at 111.25 lakh tons at the national level in the year 2025, under which the production is expected to be 51 lakh tons in Rajasthan,
15 lakh tons in Uttar Pradesh, 13.50 lakh tons in Madhya Pradesh, 12.50 lakh tons in Punjab / Haryana, 4.75 lakh tons in Gujarat and 14.50 lakh tons in other states of the country including Bengal-Bihar.
According to Anil Chatar, after deducting the quantity of 2 lakh tons received in February, the production of mustard for the marketing season which started from 1 March was estimated to be 109.25 lakh tons.
Apart from this, on 1 March, about 9 lakh tons of previous outstanding stock of mustard was present, due to which its total availability for the entire season will be 118.25 lakh tons. Farmers had 1.00 lakh tonne of mustard outstanding stock at the beginning of the season,
while with the production of 109.25 lakh tonne, the total stock became 110.25 lakh tonne. Out of this, 15 lakh tonne arrived during March and thus, as of 1st April, it will have a stock of 95.25 lakh tonne left.
Government agencies- NAFED / HAFED had a stock of about 7.00 lakh tonne of mustard left on 1st April. Although it purchased 50 thousand tonne of new mustard in March, but also sold the same amount of old stock.
As of 1st April 2025, farmers will have 95.25 lakh tonne, processors and stockists will have 4.50 lakh tonne and government agencies will have 7.00 lakh tonne of mustard stock available in the country, which will be consumed in the coming months.
