International Corn Market
The USDA reported this morning a private export sale of 120,000 metric tons of corn to Spain for 2024/25 shipment.
Following last week’s recovery, the EIA ethanol production report, which will be released on Wednesday, is expected to show production levels that are steady to slightly lower.
According to the Crop Progress data released Monday afternoon, 24% of the U.S. corn crop had been planted as of April 27, ahead of the 5-year average of 22% for that date. However, some states in the Eastern Corn Belt (ECB) are lagging behind their normal planting pace, including Illinois (IL), Indiana (IN), Kentucky (KY), North Carolina (NC), Pennsylvania (PA), Tennessee (TN), and Wisconsin (WI).
Rainfall over the next week is expected to be limited across the Northern Plains, including parts of Iowa (IA), Minnesota (MN), and Wisconsin (WI), with lighter totals projected for Illinois (IL) and Indiana (IN).
A Taiwanese importer purchased 65,000 metric tons of U.S. corn in a tender, while a South Korean importer bought 66,000 metric tons of corn in a tender on Tuesday.
