Washington. In its March report, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimated the global production of oilseeds for the 2025-26 season at 697.54 million tonnes—a figure that was subsequently revised upward to 698.21 million tonnes in its April report.
Production of oilseed crops in countries outside the United States is projected to reach 571.97 million tonnes, an increase from the previous month's estimate of 571.30 million tonnes. Leading global producers of oilseed crops include Brazil, the United States, Argentina, China, and India, among others.
The USDA has estimated oilseed production within the United States for the 2025-26 season at 126.24 million tonnes, remaining unchanged from the estimate provided in March. The global carryover stock of oilseeds is projected to contract to 145.41 million tonnes—a slight decrease from the March figure of 146.58 million tonnes.
According to the USDA report, global soybean production for the 2025-26 season is expected to reach 427.41 million tonnes, a marginal increase over the March estimate of 427.18 million tonnes. This upward revision is attributed to increased production estimates for Paraguay and South Africa.
As for the United States, the soybean production estimate remains unchanged, holding steady at the previous level of 115.99 million tonnes. Brazil is expected to remain the world's leading producer of soybeans.
In Brazil, the harvesting of the soybean crop has reached its final stages, while in Argentina, harvesting is currently proceeding in full swing. Meanwhile, in the United States, soybean planting operations are set to gain momentum shortly.
