Jaipur: Government procurement of wheat has officially started from 10 March 2026 in the Kota division of Rajasthan, one of the five leading states contributing wheat to the central pool. Arrivals of the new crop have begun in the region.
This year, the wheat acreage in the state has increased and the crop condition is reported to be normal, indicating the possibility of better production.
For the current season, the Rajasthan government has announced a bonus of ₹150 per quintal on wheat. This is in addition to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹2,585 per quintal fixed by the Government of India. With the bonus included, farmers in Rajasthan will receive ₹2,735 per quintal for wheat sold at government procurement centres.
The Rajasthan government had requested the central government to fix a procurement target of 2.3 million tonnes (23 lakh tonnes) for this year. However, the centre reduced the target by 2 lakh tonnes and set the procurement target at 2.1 million tonnes (21 lakh tonnes).
Last year, the actual government procurement of wheat in Rajasthan was about 2.14 million tonnes (21.40 lakh tonnes).
