Cotton procurement in Madhya Pradesh for the 2024-25 season has reached 12 lakh quintals, marking a significant increase compared to the 6.35 lakh quintals procured in the same period last year.

The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), operating under the Union Textiles Ministry, is responsible for this procurement, purchasing cotton from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The procurement began in October 2024, and so far, 21 procurement centers have been opened across the state.

These centers have seen a high volume of cotton in the initial months, with the quality of the cotton improving over time. Initially, the cotton quality was below the approved level, but it has gradually improved, and the quantity has increased.

The MSP for cotton for the 2024-25 season has been set by the Central Government at Rs 7,121 per quintal for medium fiber cotton and Rs 7,521 per quintal for long fiber cotton.

The CCI has established various purchase centers in regions like Khargone, Dhamnod, Bikangaon, Barwah, and Khandwa to facilitate the procurement process.
