ICE cotton futures closed Tuesday lower by 11 to 61 points. The U.S. Dollar Index declined by 0.278 to 97.885. Crude oil prices dropped by $7.01 following reports of potential talks between the U.S. and Iran, although no official confirmation has been made.
According to the NASS Crop Progress Report, U.S. cotton planting has reached 7%, which is in line with the average. Most states are around or above average, while Texas is 1% behind at 11% planted.
On April 13, 3,172 bales of cotton were sold on The Seam at an average price of 72.95 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index increased by 10 points to 84.35 cents on April 10. ICE certified cotton stocks rose by 15,301 bales to 159,512 bales. The Adjusted World Price increased by 175 points last week to 58.74 cents per pound.
