Monday morning’s Export Inspections report showed 1.658 MMT (65.3 mbu) of corn shipped in the week ending March 12. This was 1.98% lower than the previous week but 8.95% higher than the same week last year. Mexico was the largest destination with 446,121 MT, followed by 281,957 MT shipped to Japan and 150,849 MT to Colombia.
Since the start of the marketing year on September 1, total corn shipments have reached 42.869 MMT (1.688 bbu), which is 39.16% higher than the same period last year. Meanwhile, 127,639 MT of sorghum was exported, with China being the sole destination.
According to AgRural, Brazil’s first corn crop harvest was 50% complete by Thursday, lagging behind last year’s 72% pace. Planting of the second corn crop reached 91%, also behind last year’s 97%.
