The weekly report from the EIA will be released on Wednesday, with traders expecting ethanol production to rebound from the previous week.
The USDA’s monthly WASDE report released this morning showed no changes to the U.S. corn balance sheet, with carryout stocks left unchanged at 2.127 billion bushels.
On the global front, there were offsetting adjustments to South American production estimates. Argentina’s production was reduced by 1 MMT to 52 MMT, while Brazil’s production was increased by 1 MMT to 132 MMT.
World ending stocks increased by 3.76 MMT to 292.75 MMT. This rise was mainly due to a 0.78 MMT increase in old-crop Brazilian stocks and a 0.5 MMT reduction in demand for the current marketing year. Ukraine’s production was increased by 1.7 MMT, with its stocks rising by 1.3 MMT.
