Chickpea (Chana): Market Shows Improvement
★ Compared to Saturday, chana prices improved by Thursday. In Delhi (Rajasthan line), chana increased by ₹50 to ₹5,650 per quintal. Katni desi chana rose by ₹150 to ₹5,600 per quintal. In Mumbai, Tanzania-origin chana increased by ₹100 to ₹5,200, while Australian chana rose by ₹125 to ₹5,425 per quintal. However, these prices are still lower than the average levels seen in February.
★ The arrival of the new chana crop has begun in the country, and record production is expected this season.
★ Market prices are still trading below the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Government procurement may provide some support, but heavy arrivals from the new crop are likely to influence prices from time to time. The Australian crop situation should also be monitored, and overall the chana market may witness volatility in the coming period.
