Rice
★ As of 1st May 2025, FCI holds a total rice stock of 381.47 lakh tons, which is 0.62 lakh tons lower than April 2025. However, it is significantly higher than last year's 319.07 lakh tons and 265.06 lakh tons in 2023.
★ The rice buffer stock norm for April is 135.8 lakh tons, and the current stock exceeds this by 245.67 lakh tons.

Wheat
★ On 1st May 2025, wheat stock stood at 356.72 lakh tons, a sharp increase of 238.78 lakh tons compared to April 2025 (117.94 lakh tons). It is also higher than last year’s 259.55 lakh tons and 290.28 lakh tons in 2023.
★ Against the buffer norm of 74.6 lakh tons for April, the current wheat stock is 282.12 lakh tons above, indicating a very strong position.

Total Grain Stock
★ FCI currently holds 738.19 lakh tons of food grains in total, which is 238.16 lakh tons more than April 2025, 159.57 lakh tons higher than May 2024, and 182.85 lakh tons more than May 2023.
★ This shows that FCI holds a stock level well above the buffer norms.

Unmilled Paddy
★ As of 1st May 2025, the central pool contains 318.73 lakh tons of unmilled paddy, which is 52.78 lakh tons lower than April 2025. ★ Still, it remains much higher than 283.33 lakh tons in May 2024 and 226.83 lakh tons in May 2023.

Coarse Grains
★ Stock of coarse grains stands at only 3.16 lakh tons, up by 1.85 lakh tons from April 2025 (1.31 lakh tons). However, it is slightly lower compared to 4.57 lakh tons in May 2024 and 4.89 lakh tons in May 2023.
★ FCI currently maintains food grain stocks (especially rice and wheat) well above the buffer stock norms, ensuring robust food security.
