Mangalore. The president of Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (CAMPCO) Limited, a leading cooperative organization, says that despite market fluctuations, the organization has ensured profitable and better returns for arecanut growers over the past five years, maintaining a fairly stable market price.
According to the president of CAMPCO, the price of new stock of white arecanut, which was between ₹240 and ₹320 per kg in 2020, has now increased to ₹360-₹485 per kg. Similarly, the price of old stock of white arecanut has also increased from ₹320-₹380 per kg to ₹360-₹525 per kg during the same period.
Red arecanut prices have also seen a significant increase. Its price, which was ₹350-398 per kg in 2020, jumped to ₹545-585 per kg in 2025.
The Chairman stated that the illegal (cheap) import of betel nut from abroad has led to significant fluctuations in domestic market prices.
Furthermore, due to GST, traders have been attempting to purchase betel nut from domestic producers at lower prices.
This has left indigenous farmers struggling to secure a profitable price for their betel nut. However, in this difficult situation, CAMPCO stepped in and provided relief by purchasing betel nut from farmers at higher prices.
Due to improved business practices, CAMPCO's total turnover has jumped nearly 70 percent from ₹2134.15 crore in 2020-21 to ₹3631 crore in 2024-25. CAMPCO has emerged as a reliable and supportive organization.
