New Delhi. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has said that the steps taken and measures implemented to increase farmers' income during the last decade will be continued in future as well.

Welfare of farmers is among the major priorities of the government and development of agriculture will strengthen the Indian economy.

In a meeting held with all the officials of the Agriculture Ministry, the Agriculture Minister distributed the BJP's manifesto in which steps were promised to increase the income of farmers.

The Agriculture Minister has said that farmers fill the grain reserves and the agriculture sector is the backbone of the Indian economy.

Every possible effort will be made for the welfare of farmers. The Agriculture Ministry will start working on the BJP's manifesto in which many promises have been made.

Making the agriculture sector attractive and profitable is also included in this manifesto. However, silence has been maintained in this manifesto on the promise of doubling the income of farmers, whereas it was publicized loudly earlier.

It is noteworthy that the government had earlier set a target of doubling the income of farmers but till now no official statement has come out regarding the increase in the income of the farming community.

However, a member of the Niti Aayog has been repeatedly saying that the target of doubling the income of farmers has been achieved in states like Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Shivraj Singh Chauhan will also have to make efforts to increase the growth rate of the agriculture sector.
