According to the Union Agriculture Ministry, peanut production in the 2025-26 Kharif season is expected to jump from 10.412 million tons to 11.294 million tons compared to 2024-25, while production in the Rabi season is expected to improve from 6.78 million tons to 7.97 million tons.
Thus, combined Kharif and Rabi peanut production is expected to reach 12.091 million tons, which is 1 million tons more than the 2024-25 production of 11.090 million tons.
Last year, domestic peanut production during the summer season was 85.2 million tonnes, taking the total to 119.42 million tonnes.
Figures for the 2025-26 season do not include production from the later seasons. Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana are the major peanut producing states. Peanut prices have increased significantly in recent weeks due to improved trading.
