2024 Year-End Review: Department of Consumer Affairs

1.Bharat Dal Brand Retail Sales Conversion:
- Chana Dal: The Government launched retail sales of Chana dal and whole Chana under the Bharat Dal brand on October 23, 2024. Chana stock will be sold in a 1 kg pack with a ratio of 80:20 (Dal:Whole) at ₹70/kg for Chana dal and ₹58/kg for whole Chana. Earlier, during Phase 1, Chana dal was sold at subsidized rates of ₹60/kg (1 kg pack) and ₹55/kg (30 kg pack).   
-Moong Dal: Moong stock will be converted into Moong dal (Dhuli) and Moong dal (Sabut). The MRP for Bharat Moong dal (Dhuli) is set at ₹107/kg, and for Moong dal (Sabut) at ₹93/kg. These products are available through NAFED, NCCF, Central Bhandar, and other retail outlets.
-Masur Dal: Masur stock will also be converted into Masur dal. The MRP for Bharat Masur dal is ₹89/kg. Available through NAFED, NCCF, Central Bhandar, Safal, and e-commerce platforms.

2. PSF Buffer Stock:
  - In Phase 1 (2016-18), a buffer stock of 20.5 lakh tonnes of pulses was built, including both domestic procurement and imports.
  - In Phase 2, 67.93 lakh tonnes were replenished, and 75.86 lakh tonnes were disposed of. As of December 2, 2024, 10.11 lakh tonnes of pulses remain in the PSF buffer.
  - For FY 2024-25, 5.64 lakh tonnes of pulses have been disposed of.
