Wheat prices soften in other major mandis except Indore

New Delhi. Due to government strictness, high stock and limited demand, the domestic market price of wheat generally declined by 10-20 rupees per quintal during the week of June 14-20, but in the benchmark Indore Mandi of Madhya Pradesh, it jumped by a huge Rs 440 to reach Rs 2400/3100 per quintal. The price remained strong there only at the higher level.
Delhi
On the other hand, during the period under review, the price of wheat fell by Rs 15 to Rs 2735/2740 per quintal in Delhi, by Rs 20 to Rs 2550/2600 per quintal in Dabra, by Rs 10 to Rs 2480/2540 in Itarsi, by Rs 30 to Rs 2460/2475 in Hardoi, by Rs 20 to Rs 2480 in Gorakhpur and by Rs 40 to Rs 2490/2500 per quintal in Gonda.
Mainpuri
The price of wheat remained soft in Mainpuri and Etah too, but in Jalna Mandi of Maharashtra, it increased by Rs 150 to Rs 2500/2750 per quintal.
Purchase
Wheat is arriving well in the mandis of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, but due to the imposition of storage limit, traders and flour millers are hesitant to make large purchases of it. In Rajasthan, wheat is being purchased from farmers at the rate of Rs 2575 per quintal, which includes an additional bonus of Rs 150 per quintal announced by the Central Government. Since the wholesale market price there has come down to Rs 2440/2550 per quintal, government agencies are getting good success in its purchase from farmers.
Rajasthan
Rajasthan is the only state where this time the government has purchased more (21 lakh tons) wheat than the target set (20 lakh tons). This time the total purchase of wheat at the national level for the central pool increased to 300 lakh tons. Due to this also some pressure is being seen on the prices.
