Prices Soften in Madhya Pradesh; Rise in Maharashtra and Rajasthan
New Delhi: Driven by demand and supply dynamics, soybean prices in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a decline of up to ₹150 per quintal during the week of March 14–20. Conversely, plant delivery prices rose by ₹125 per quintal in Maharashtra and by up to ₹250 per quintal in Rajasthan. Notably, in all three of these top-producing states, the plant delivery price for soybeans is currently trading above the government's Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Soy Refined Oil
Buoyed by robust demand, prices for refined soy oil also recorded a surge of ₹6 to ₹10 per kilogram. Prices in Kota rose by ₹60 to reach ₹1,500 per 10 kg, while in Kandla, they jumped by ₹105 to touch ₹1,505 per 10 kg.
Mumbai
Prices in Mumbai and Haldia also witnessed an improvement of ₹4 to ₹5. Soybean oil imports declined in February, and concerns persist regarding potential disruptions in imports during March as well. The inflow of soybeans into domestic markets has begun to weaken. In the global market, soybean oil prices are trending upward; consequently, the base import price for the commodity has also been raised. Furthermore, the depreciation of the Rupee has made imports more expensive. Trading activity in Soy DOC (De-oiled Cake) remained sluggish, resulting in a slight softening of prices.
