Groundnut Prices Rise in UP Amidst Low Arrivals and Strong Demand

New Delhi: Although during the week of March 14–20, groundnut prices declined by ₹2,000 to range between ₹7,000–₹9,000 per quintal in Gujarat's Rajkot market—due to heavy arrivals and sluggish trading—and fell by ₹100 to ₹9,400 per quintal in Solapur, Maharashtra; and while prices in Bikaner, Rajasthan, remained stable at the previous level of ₹7,300 per quintal; prices in Uttar Pradesh (UP) witnessed a recovery of ₹100–₹200, driven by limited arrivals and robust demand. In UP, groundnut prices in Jhansi and Mauranipur each improved by ₹100, reaching levels of ₹6,300–₹7,000 and ₹6,500–₹7,000 per quintal, respectively.
Groundnut Kernels
In Solapur, a modest demand emerged for shelled groundnut kernels, leading to a price recovery of up to ₹400 per quintal; however, in Nagpur, prices dropped by ₹500 per quintal due to weak trading activity.
Groundnut Oil
Some trading activity was observed in loose groundnut oil, resulting in a price increase of ₹75 per 10 kg in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar, bringing the rate to ₹1,750 per 10 kg. Additionally, price increases ranging from ₹10 to ₹60 per 10 kg were recorded in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bikaner, Newai/Tonk, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
Branded Oil
In Kota, the price of branded groundnut oil rose by ₹75, reaching ₹2,875 per tin (15 liters). Despite the elevated prices, trading volumes remained strong. In Jaipur and Newai, prices for filtered groundnut oil remained significantly high.
