Fluctuations in Groundnut Prices Amidst Normal Trading Activity
New Delhi: Markets (Mandis) in major groundnut-producing states—including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh—are witnessing a normal supply of the Kharif-season crop. However, prices are experiencing fluctuations (rises and falls) in response to prevailing demand and market off-take.
Arrivals
During the week of March 9–13, daily arrivals at the Rajkot market in Gujarat ranged between 5,000 and 10,000 bags; yet, prices remained stable within the range of ₹6,000 to ₹9,000 per quintal. In Bikaner, Rajasthan, prices also held steady at ₹7,300 per quintal; conversely, in Solapur, Maharashtra, prices declined by ₹600 to settle at ₹9,500 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh, groundnut prices recorded an increase of ₹200 per quintal in Jhansi and ₹300 per quintal in Mauranipur. However, in Mahoba, prices dropped by ₹200 to range between ₹6,500 and ₹6,800 per quintal.
Groundnut Kernels
Due to sluggish trading activity in shelled groundnut kernels, prices softened by ₹500 to ₹1,300 per quintal in Solapur and Nagpur. Millers and exporters demonstrated weak demand for the commodity at higher price levels. The overall availability of stock remained robust.
Groundnut Oil
Trading in loose (unbranded) groundnut oil was moderate, resulting in a price firming of ₹20 to ₹25 per 10 kilograms. In Mumbai, prices surged by ₹60 to reach ₹1,720 per 10 kilograms.
Branded Oil
In Kota, the price of branded groundnut oil rose by ₹100 to reach ₹2,800 per tin (15 liters). Similarly, in Jaipur/Newai, the price of filtered groundnut oil rose by ₹50–100 per 10 kg.
