Target set for purchase of paddy and Shri Anna in Madhya Pradesh

The Madhya Pradesh government has set ambitious targets for the purchase of Kharif crops during the 2024-25 season, aiming to procure significant quantities of paddy, jowar, millet, pulses, and oilseeds at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) set by the Central Government. This initiative is expected to provide much-needed relief to farmers by ensuring they receive fair prices for their produce, protecting them from market fluctuations.

  • Target for Purchase (2024-25 Kharif Season):

    • Paddy: 45 lakh tonnes
    • Millet: 3 lakh tonnes
    • Jowar: 50 thousand tonnes
  • Minimum Support Price (MSP):

    • Paddy:
      • Rs 2300 per quintal (Common variety)
      • Rs 2320 per quintal (A-grade or fine variety)
    • Jowar:
      • Rs 3421 per quintal (Maldandi variety)
      • Rs 3371 per quintal (Hybrid variety)
    • Millet: Rs 2625 per quintal
  • Purchase Timeline:

    • Jowar and Millet: From 22 November to 20 December 2024
    • Paddy: From 2 December 2024 to 20 January 2025
  • Registration Requirement: Farmers need to register in advance to sell their crops at the MSP.

  • Other Crops: The state government has also received approval from the Central Government to purchase pulses and oilseeds, with Madhya Pradesh being a major producer of crops like soybean and urad.
