13-Jun-2025 07:26 PM
New Delhi. Due to the decrease in raisin production in the country for the second year, a record increase has been recorded in the prices of raisins during the current season and the sentiment in the market is still bullish. It is noteworthy that I Grain India, while giving information to its readers from time to time, had suggested that this year raisins will make a new record price. Whereas at present, the price of raisins in Sangli and Tasgaon Mandi of Maharashtra has reached a record level of Rs 310/330. Sources believe that in the coming days, further increase in prices is possible in the consumption season. Because the arrival of new crop will come in February-March - 2026. Whereas there is a shortage of stock due to decrease in production. The stock that is there is also in strong hands. Possibility is being expressed. In the coming days, prices may cross the level of Rs 350.
Fear of profit booking
Due to the continuously rising prices, it is being speculated that profit booking and selling may come in the market once again. Due to which the prices may fall for a short period but the future will be good. According to the information received, during the month of June last year, the price of raisins in the markets of Maharashtra was Rs 160/170 per kg, which has currently reached the level of Rs 310/330.
Low sales
Although only 40/45 percent of the total production has arrived in the markets till now, but due to the bullish business attitude, the sales have remained low. Due to which the arrival has also decreased. Currently, the arrival of raisins in Sangli and Tasgaon Mandi has remained 40/50 motors.
Production
Raisins are mainly produced in Maharashtra. This year the production of raisins in the country is believed to be 14/15 thousand carts (each cart is 10 tonnes). Whereas in the year 2024, the production was 19/20 thousand carts and in the year 2023, the production was 22/24 thousand carts.
Low availability
Informed sources say that the availability of raisins will be low during the current season. It is noteworthy that during the year 2024, apart from the new production of 19/20 thousand carts, there was also an outstanding stock of 2.5/3 thousand carts. But during the current season, apart from the production of 14/15 carts, the outstanding stock is believed to be 500/600 carts.
No recession
Looking at the current situation, there is no possibility of much recession in the prices of raisins. If there is profit booking and selling, the prices may fall by Rs 10/20, which will be for a short period. Thereafter, the prices will start rising again. Because there is 7/8 months left for the new crop to arrive. Also, the stock is also low. Currently, the price of raisins in Delhi market is being quoted at Rs 320/400 per kg depending on the quality.
Export
Due to high prices during the current season, the export of raisins is likely to decrease during the year 2025-26. According to the information received, during the year 2023-24 (April-March), the export of raisins was 47750 tonnes, which decreased to 46738 tonnes in the year 2024-25. In comparison to March-2024, the export of raisins in March 2025 was 1795 tonnes, whereas only 1795 tonnes were exported in March-2025.
