News Capsule: India’s Edible Oil Imports – Down from Nov ’24 to Sept ’25
★ In September 2025, total imports stood at 1.64 million tons, up 51% compared to the same month last year. This included 1.605 million tons of edible oils and 0.035 million tons of non-edible oils.
★ For the oil year 2024-25 (Nov ’24 – Sept ’25), total imports reached 14.3 million tons, down 3% from the same period last year.
★ No RBD Palmolein was imported in September 2025 due to the increased import duty difference implemented on 31 May 2025.
★ As of 1 October 2025, total domestic stock was 2 million tons, including 0.52 million tons of CPO/CPKO and 0.29 million tons of degummed soybean oil.
★ During Nov ’24 – Sept ’25, the share of refined oils fell to 7%, while crude oils rose to 93%. Palm oil accounted for 50% and soft oils 50% of total imports.
