India aims to double agricultural exports and open new global markets for rice in the next five years: Minister Pralhad Joshi

New Delhi – Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi, in a video message, said that India aims to double its agricultural and agri-based exports and open new global markets for Indian rice over the next five years. He stated, “Over the next five years, we will reform and modernize the public distribution system, double agricultural and agri-based exports, and open new global markets for Indian rice.”
Joshi also noted that while India expands its presence in global markets, ensuring the safety of its citizens through a strong public distribution system will remain a top priority. Congratulating the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) for organizing the Bharat International Rice Conference (BRIC) 2025, he said, “The Bharat International Rice Conference 2025 will be a significant milestone in our journey towards a Developed India 2047, with our farmers and consumers at the heart of this vision.”
The minister outlined the government’s long-term plan to strengthen the country’s position as a global leader in the rice trade. He emphasized that the focus will remain on ensuring quality, safety, and accessibility across the food supply chain. Joshi added, “India is not only the largest producer and a leading exporter of rice but also a nation deeply committed to ensuring food and nutrition security for every household.”
He further stated, “Our approach is farmer-centric and consumer-centric, ensuring that growth in exports goes hand in hand with the prosperity of farmers and food security for all.” He urged all stakeholders to “dream big and plan boldly” to realize India’s full potential in the global agricultural market.
