Moong prices in major producing markets remain largely stable. According to traders, the arrival of Kharif-season Moong is steady, with pulse millers purchasing only as needed. Meanwhile, the central government’s sale of Moong from the central pool is expected to keep price fluctuations limited for the time being. In the current Kharif season, a deficit in monsoon rainfall has impacted Moong yields across several states, leading traders to lower their production estimates. However, the presence of over 8 lakh tonnes of Moong in the central pool continues to exert supply-side pressure on the market. Arrivals of Kharif Moong in South Indian states are reported to be lower compared to last year. Given the current balance between demand and availability, the likelihood of any significant surge or decline in prices remains limited. Due to weak buying interest, Moong prices in Delhi held steady today at ₹7,800–₹8,500 per quintal. Similarly, in Jaipur, prices remained unchanged at ₹7,200–₹7,700 per quintal. In Indore, prices stayed at ₹8,000–₹8,500 per quintal, while in Akola, the 'Chamki' variety remained at ₹9,300 per quintal—all due to subdued demand.
Market Outlook: While lower yield estimates and reduced arrivals in certain states could provide some support to Moong prices, the substantial stocks held in the central pool and ongoing government sales are likely to keep any potential price increases in check.
