International Soybean Market
According to the USDA's weekly Crop Progress report, U.S. soybean planting increased by just 3% during the week ending Sunday, reaching 93% complete—slightly below the five-year average of 94%. Emergence was at 84%, one percentage point ahead of the five-year average. Traders had expected an improvement in crop conditions, but USDA data showed a 2% drop, leaving 66% of the crop rated good to excellent. The Brugler500 index fell by 5 points to 367.
Export Inspections data showed total soybean shipments of 215,803 metric tons (7.93 million bushels) during the week ending June 12. This was 61.4% lower than the previous week and 36.7% below the same week last year. Of the total, 58,284 MT were shipped to Germany, 46,091 MT to South Korea, and 41,147 MT to Mexico. Cumulative marketing year shipments now total 45.416 MMT (1.669 billion bushels), an 11.1% increase over the same period last year.
According to the latest NOPA data, members crushed a total of 192.83 million bushels of soybeans in May, falling short of estimates. This was a record for the month, 5.01% higher than last year, and 1.37% above the April total. Soybean oil stocks were down 10.02% from last month to 1.37 billion gallons, 20.34% below last year.
