International Cotton Market
ICE cotton futures closed with gains of 43 to 53 points across most contracts on Wednesday, supported by outside markets. Crude oil rose 56 cents per barrel, while the U.S. dollar index dropped $0.165.
Traders expect the June 30 Acreage Report, to be released Monday, to show U.S. cotton planted area near 10 million acres.
The Seam reported just 182 bales sold in Tuesday’s online auction at an average price of 59 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index rose 85 points on June 24 to 78.40.
ICE cotton stocks declined by 1,196 bales on June 24 to 61,136 certified bales.
The USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) increased by 1 point last week to 54.03 cents per pound and remains effective through Thursday.
