According to the EIA report released on Wednesday, ethanol production fell to 1.081 million barrels per day during the week ending June 20, down 28,000 barrels per day from the previous week — the lowest level in four weeks. Ethanol stocks increased by 284,000 barrels to 24.404 million barrels. Ethanol exports dropped by 53,000 barrels per day week-over-week to 110,000 barrels per day, while refiner ethanol inputs rose by 3,000 barrels per day to 913,000 barrels per day. Gasoline product supplied (i.e., implied gasoline use) was the highest since December 2021 at 9.688 million barrels per day.
Rainfall is currently ongoing in the Western Corn Belt and is expected to continue over the next few days. The 7-day rainfall forecast indicates 1 to 4 inches in the Eastern Corn Belt, while Illinois and Indiana may receive lighter, scattered totals.
Export sales data will be released Thursday morning, with expectations that corn sales for the week ending June 19 will range between 0.5 and 1.2 million metric tons for old crop. Sales for the 2025/26 crop year are estimated between 100,000 and 350,000 metric tons.
The USDA will release its June Acreage Report on Monday. The market expects corn planted area to average 95.4 million acres this spring, slightly below the March planting intentions. Estimates range from 93.8 to 96.8 million acres.
A South Korean importer purchased 266,000 metric tons of corn in a tender overnight.
Brazil has raised its ethanol blending mandate from 27% to 30% following approval by the National Energy Policy Council.
