Increasing Use of Maize for Ethanol Production
In the past year, 6 million tons of maize were used for ethanol production.
Oil companies have been allocated approximately 8.37 billion liters of ethanol for the 2024-25 season, with maize contributing 51.52% of this share.
To meet rising demand, the government aims to increase maize production by 10 million tons over the next five years.
In 2023-24, maize production stood at 32.47 million tons.
The use of maize for ethanol production is expected to rise further in the future.
