GEMA Calls for Higher Ethanol Prices from Grains
The Grain Ethanol Manufacturers Association (GEMA) has urged the government to raise prices for grain-based ethanol.
The current price of ethanol made from rice is ₹58.5 per liter, and GEMA is demanding an increase to ₹70.71 per liter.
GEMA highlighted that FCI previously supplied rice at ₹30 per kg when ethanol was priced at ₹58.5 per liter. Now, with rice being supplied at ₹28 per kg (excluding transportation costs), ethanol prices should align with the proposed ₹70.71 per liter.
Current ethanol prices:
Maize-based ethanol: ₹71.86 per liter
Sugarcane juice-based ethanol: ₹65.61 per liter
Broken grain-based ethanol: ₹64 per liter
B molasses-based ethanol: ₹60.73 per liter
C molasses-based ethanol: ₹56.28 per liter
