Favourable weather in Canada has increased the pace of sowing of gram

Saskatoon. Due to favourable weather and rainfall in the Prairie region of western Canada, along with other crops, sowing of gram (mainly Kabuli) is also increasing rapidly and this process is likely to be completed soon. In some areas, sowing got delayed due to the field getting wet due to recent rains.
The condition of the crop is said to be good and the germination rate of the seeds is also high. Advance contracts for purchase and sale are being made between farmers and traders.
The free on board farm price of number 2 quality Kabuli gram on the basis of first 10 bushels per acre is being said to be 44 cents per pound,
which seems to be somewhat beneficial for the producers. But the depth of the bid is still said to be uncertain and it seems that buyers would not want to try to buy Kabuli gram at a higher price than this because exporters may have to face tough competition due to the possibility of better production at the global level. It is worth noting that at the current price level,
many farmers do not want to sell their existing stock of Kabuli gram, but since the new crop is going to be harvested in the next 60-65 days and then the supply and availability of new goods will increase,
which may put pressure on the prices, the dilemma of the farmers has increased a lot. It is worth mentioning that the price of the upcoming new goods and seasonal stock of Kabuli gram has come to almost the same level, so the producers may be forced to sell their old stock.
The demand for Kabuli gram is also somewhat weak in other important importing countries including Turkey, America and United Arab Emirates.
