ICE cotton futures closed higher on Wednesday, with most contracts gaining between 115 and 204 points. Crude oil fell 17 cents to settle at $75.88 per barrel, while the U.S. Dollar Index rose 0.981 points to 100.26.
The U.S. Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged following its two-day policy meeting. Trading for the week will conclude on Thursday, with markets closed on Friday in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
According to The Seam, only 396 bales of cotton were sold on June 16 at an average price of 67 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index rose by 45 points on June 15 to 85.50 cents per pound. ICE certified cotton stocks remained unchanged on Tuesday at 192,699 bales. The Adjusted World Price (AWP) declined by another 194 points last week to 61.26 cents per pound.
