Export Sales data released Thursday morning showed 1.15 MMT of old crop corn sales for the week ending March 26. This was down 5.6% from the previous week and 2% below the same period last year. Mexico was the top buyer with 170,700 MT, followed by Japan with 168,800 MT and Taiwan with purchases of 150,900 MT. New crop sales totaled 102,609 MT, all of which were sold to Mexico.
According to the monthly export data from the Census, a total of 6.77 MMT (266.5 million bushels) of corn was exported in February. This was a record for the month and 2.44% higher than January. Distillers grains (DDGS) exports increased by 8.26% compared to last year to 919,855 MT. Ethanol shipments reached 794.45 million gallons in February, also a record for the month.
