For the week ending March 12, weekly export sales data showed old crop corn sales at 1.17 million metric tons (MMT). This was down 13.4% from the previous week and 11.7% below the same week last year. Mexico was the largest buyer at 287,200 MT, followed by Japan with 194,900 MT and Spain with 142,300 MT. New crop sales were just 12,000 MT, all sold to Japan.
According to the International Grains Council (IGC), global corn ending stocks increased by 1 MMT to 306 MMT. This came as production rose by 7 MMT while consumption increased by 4 MMT. For 2026/27, stocks are projected at 294 MMT, with production expected to decline by 13 MMT year-on-year and consumption to rise by 13 MMT.
The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange estimates Argentina’s corn harvest to be 13% complete.
