Canadian Peas: Production and Export Update  
- In 2024, Canada's pea production was recorded at 2.997 million tonnes, 163,000 tonnes lower than earlier estimates.  
- This is 15% higher than 2023 but falls short of the 3.4 million tonnes produced in 2022.  
- Yellow peas production increased by 275,000 tonnes to 2.5 million tonnes, while green peas production rose by 130,000 tonnes to 425,000 tonnes.  
Global Production:  
- Global pea production in 2024 stood at 11.78 million tonnes, up 1.8% from 2023.  
- Russia and Canada remained the leading producers.  
Exports to India and China:  
- India: Canada exported 602,000 tonnes of peas to India between August and October 2024, compared to just 138 tonnes during the same period last year.   India imported 2.5 million tonnes of peas from January to October 2024, with 850,000 tonnes coming from Russia.  
- China: Canadian pea exports to China declined. Between August and October 2024, China imported 297,000 tonnes of peas, a decrease from the previous year.  
Prices:  
- Russian peas are $45/tonne cheaper than Canadian peas in the Indian market.  
Export Projections:  
- Total Canadian pea exports are projected at 2.36 million tonnes.  
- Pea prices are expected to remain stable.
