Peas
2024-25:
Pea exports are estimated to decline to 2.3 million tonnes compared to 2023-24.
From August to April, Canada’s exports to the US stood at 82 thousand tonnes, which is lower than the same period last year.
Despite increased domestic consumption, carry-out stocks are expected to be higher than the previous year due to lower export demand.
Average prices for all types of dry peas are expected to decline compared to 2023-24.
The price difference between green and yellow peas reached a record level of \$200 per tonne, compared to \$185 per tonne in 2023-24.
2025-26:
Seeded area is expected to increase by 9% over 2024-25 to reach 1.42 million hectares.
Production is expected to rise to 3.1 million tonnes. Total supply is estimated to increase by 10%.
Exports are expected to fall to 1.6 million tonnes. Carry-out stocks are forecast to rise to 1.3 million tonnes.
Average prices are likely to fall further compared to 2024-25.
United States:
According to USDA, in 2025-26, pea area is expected to decline to 0.9 million acres, and production is expected to fall by 7% to 0.7 million tonnes.
