Arrivals of Tur in producing markets remain negligible, while a bullish trend persists in the market driven by strong demand from pulse millers. Amidst limited arrivals and rising demand, the availability of Tur is tightening, lending strength to prices.
Stockists are holding back sales, anticipating higher prices due to expected demand growth during the upcoming festive season and concerns over a weak crop this year. This strategy of withholding stock is placing additional pressure on domestic availability.
On the other hand, the landed cost of imported Tur is high. Due to elevated international prices, high import costs, and other expenses, importers are also compelled to sell at higher rates. Consequently, the downward pressure on domestic Tur prices from imports is currently limited, reinforcing the bullish sentiment in the market.
Under current market conditions, three key factors—limited arrivals in producing markets, strong demand from millers, and high import costs—are supporting Tur prices. Additionally, festive demand and fears of a poor harvest could further sustain the market's upward momentum.
Given these circumstances, if arrivals do not improve soon and miller demand remains steady, Tur prices could see further gains. Attention is now focused on the possibility of Tur prices breaching the psychological barrier of ₹10,000 per quintal.
