Big cardamom prices likely to remain strong due to expectation of improvement in export demand

Big cardamom prices in India are expected to remain strong due to several factors. The crop in major producing states is showing signs of weakness, with low arrivals in auction centers and a price rise in Nepal.
Additionally, the approaching Ramadan in Muslim-majority countries is expected to drive demand, which could further push prices upward.
India imports large quantities of cardamom from Nepal and Bhutan, with a significant portion being exported.
The limited sale of goods by producers and stockists in Nepal has led to a price increase, reaching record levels.
As a result, prices in India have been rising as well, with scissor-cut large cardamom reaching Rs. 1900-1910 per kg in Delhi's wholesale grocery market.
The weather conditions in major growing regions such as Sikkim, Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, and Darjeeling have not been fully favorable for the crop this year, which is contributing to lower yields.
As the new crop reaches its final stages of plucking and preparation, the market is experiencing reduced arrivals, which is driving the price increase.
Recent auction prices have ranged from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 1850 per kg depending on quality, providing relief to producers.
